How To Build Mudroom Lockers With A Bench

Erick Morillo Dj ralf

Basement Jaxx, from the Who to strip Mezzani Macy Gray. He runs the empire of Archives and legendary Subliminal and has worked with the likes of Audio Bullys. He's a platinum selling artist and has passed the tables worldwide as the producer behind Reel 2 Reel's hit 'Like me carry it.'

But his greatest achievement to be together?

"I should say it was when I bought a house," my mother, grins the New York producer born. "I put it through much shit when I was younger, and like every kid I said 'when I grow up I will buy a house'. Being in a position so early in my career where I really could to that era so far, "the moment that meets in my career.

As a producer Morillo has been responsible for a staggering order of tracks, under pseudonyms that include De Fear administer, DroneZ (a project long Harry 'Choo Choo Romero and Jose Nunez, which won the trio the remixer of the year loss in 2001), Touch Raw, Smooth, RBM, Deep Soul and the Staff Last Li'l Mo Ying Yang amongst others. As a DJ, he's played throughout the world, and its celebrated and legendary Subliminal Session at Pacha in Ibiza, to his roadblock events at Crobar in Miami, Erick approaches everything he does with a hard / play unparalleled work hard mentality.

" I am a workaholic, "he admits." Sometimes I'll be at studio 24 / 7 - but when it comes to enjoying I can keep better track of them. A Radio 1's party in Miami this year I was standing on top of the bar, two Tequila bottles in my hands that only pay in clubbers' mouths. That was a good night! "High

in Colombia, then New Jersey that Erick was weaned on a musical diet of Latin rhythms, reggae, modern and hops. Having started DJing at the age of 11 and sure many gigs playing friends and family wedding, he decided to take a course study plan to the local center of Media Arts

He was installed early in the fraternity home through his friend Marc Anthony (the Salsa King), while he was working with Louie Vega and Drugs Kenny Gonzalez on "Ride On The Rhythm". i kinda of "Louie did care for me from the beginning," smiles Erick. "He never really told me how I should do things, he was only ever support."

After scraping together somehow enough equipment for a studio, the young Morillo tentatively approached labels such as Nervous and Strictly Rhythm with his rookie production. He was rewarded with little more than a sequence of waste. It was only when he presented Strictly with a track called "New Anthem", under the moniker Reel 2 Reel they began to really sit up and take notice. Having signed 'New Anthem' Erick quickly followed it with the classic "I like to carry it," a track that has prepared the field in the tables popular all over the world, going platinum in Holland and gold in the United Kingdom, Germany, France Belgium Australia - giving the young producer his first taste of travel in Europe.

Flush with success but determined to keep his head and music firmly in the ground ("it's where I come from, where I always goes back to) he notched up a pair of billboards with # 1 Smooth Touch" In My House "and his sublime collaboration with friend Louie Vega, Li'l Mo Ying Yang the" Flow. "

In 1997 Morillo launched Subliminal Records with his production partners Harry Romero and Jose Nunez, after spending almost a year meticulously planning everything from logos to pack making sure that even the smallest details of the eye, touch, and function label were to his satisfaction. Guided by Morillo ear and studio presence, and supported by his equally capable teammates, the Subliminal brand has gone on has become synonymous with a funky, soulful sound that is as underground as it is party-ready. "I wanted to create a label that has been known for music quality, says Erick. "I wanted people to be able to go to a store, buy a Subliminal track and know that they have a record of "quality.

Seven years later and Subliminal has over 100 releases under its belt, ranging from full-on crash Who the radio like" shiny disco balls " From Fear of a underground classics such as Fear of Directors of the de "Believe." was voted the most good etiquette to the Muzik Awards in 1999 and 2000, that's not to mention the series of Subliminal Sessions compilation of essential and that showcase the label is developing artists and sounds, or label imprints Sondos, Subliminal Soul, and Bambossa SUBUSA that cater for everything from hard hitting tribal stone-house cocktails.

course enough, that the high profile DJ gigs have followed closely on the tails of Morillo's studio success. He is currently one of the most in-demand and instantly recognisable DJs in the world. Spurred on by the success of scaling-the-wall of his weekly 'Sessions parties in New York, he took the Subliminal vibe on the road, hosting events like the annual Crobar celebrating in Miami for the WMC, his residence to the Ministry desired Sound (he is one of few American DJs to ever hold one), or its festivals and legendary Subliminal Sessions at Pacha in Ibiza (named as "Good Stick International in 2002 and more Good Ibiza" Party "for 2001 by Muzik magazine), where Morillo himself was crowned more "Good International DJ" in 2002 and more Good House "DJ" in 1999 and 2001 at the Pacha Ibiza awards. His prolific DJing schedule has seen him play at a massive 30 gigs a month, while intersecting the globe taking in Greece, Malta, Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Belfast Russia and beyond. But to this day still is a set White Island in 2001 that what is important in its memory. "I was playing the last festival of the Space Terrace straight after September 11," he recalls. "I finished the night with Frank Sinatra's 'New York, New York'. People were crying and were waving American flags, everybody was singing it's my most emotional memory as a DJ."

Already a personality television through his family issues on MTV UK and as host of MTV Ibiza two years in a row, Erick also presented the Dancestar Awards in the UK in 2001 and decorated with stars in a seven part Channel 4 series followed him around the world to the biggest parties and aired to millions of observers. Erick has also just completed his highly-anticipated artist album entitled 'My World' which features heavyweight collaborations from the likes Puff Daddy, DJ Rap Audio Bullys, Terra Deva and even a meeting with the stunt Angry.

"I'm setting up this album about two years," he says. "I am really happy with the results. I am fed up with all these faceless producers in dance music. It's time we took him to another level and we gave people someone to identify with. I do not want to get back in each dance only the hardcore clubbers. This music should be as big as modern hop. "And the blow-up, dirt-fear of the album's first single 'Break Down the Audio Bullys representing the La Porta, Snorting Dad sawn-off, double barrel growl on 'My World', it is clear that this album is house music, but with an eye on the bigger picture. "I did not want to make an underground DJ album," says Erick. "That is not what it needs by the 'industry I want to make an album that can be credible, dirty and difficult but with proper songs. "

" A puff and I did three tracks, "he continues." He came to Ibiza about three years ago and knew nothing of the very scene of the house really. He was going to all these trance beats but did not realize that something more funky could find the same kind of reaction. I was playing the last set on the Space Terrace, he came along and loved it, so we began to hang out. A puffs a real hard worker - we we would go out to a party, then an after party, then an afterhours party, then we we would go in the studio working. I do not swear that guy never sleeps. "

Erick is also keen to bring a live element to his shows and has Plans for a tour of the album is live instruments, singers, DJs and if you are lucky the big man himself on drums. "I'll be giving a taster of the show back to his homeland, Global Gathering and Creamfields," he says.

"It was a pleasure doing stuff actually lives in Miami. A puffs came down to our party at the Crobar and we did a one hour to put together, me DJing and him performing live, while knocking and freestyling. The place went absolutely crazy - we had thousands of clubbers who go to the restaurant of our hands. The after party was what dreams are made of - Miami was great. "

Since Miami, Erick has had many travels and adventures, as well as successes. The success of his debut artist album, "My World" and the first single from the album "Break Down The Doors", which are the Audio Bullys. Êwith his debut album and single came his debut music video, while representing the Audio Bullys, and cameo by supermodel Naomi Campbell. The album was released in the UK on June 28 and in subsequent territories the following months: Australia, Benelux Italy, Russia and in January 2005, the United States.

Summer 2004 saw Erick in Ibiza, as weekly resident at club Pacha. It was a summer of record-breaking, with special guests and DJs the likes of Tommy Protector, P. Diddy, DJ Rap, Gadjo, Tom Novy, Benny Benassi, and the Subliminal crew. Erick made his respects at parties - Creamfields (Liverpool and Andalucia), Homeland, Mystery Land. He was also a summer of awards: Subliminal Sessions @ Pacha won the most "Good Night" and Erick received the most "Good DJ" dell'Ibiza Annual Awards Mixmag.

This self-proclaimed workaholic has several projects coming up. His Subliminal Winter Sessions Vol 2 is released in late October on Subliminal. In January, will be released through the "My World." January also sees the release of the second single from the album, What You Want "feat. Terra Deva. And of course, the ride is very together and other projects that pop up .... always

House music

The House music is a kind of dance music born in the nightclubs of Chicago and New York in the first half of the eighties and strongly influenced by disco music and elements of soul and funk of years later seventy [1] . The name

house music comes from the local Chicago Warehouse club [1] [2] , where resident DJ Frankie Knuckles played for the first time house records at the beginning of the eighties. E 'spread to a second theory, lacking But the foundation, according to which the term "house " came to indicate that that type of music can be recorded and produced in-house. [3]

Structural features such [edit ]

The genus is characterized by a metric tends to 4 / 4 with cash in on every fourth beat, sometimes enriched by more elaborate rhythmic figures. A permanent presence is the "snare" ( snare) on the same beats and a "hat" ( dish) in backbeat to accompany rounds of low in one or two lines. The low can be acoustic, electric or synthetic. This rhythm section forms the basis for the melodic part that is made differently in different genres but has common elements such as the presence of simple melodic phrases piano, guitar acoustic or electric, or funky jazz , complex horn solos and chordophones and vocal influences with funk and soul . The frequency is typically metronomic 105/110 bpm with a peak of 130/132. On average, house songs are played around the 125 bpm . [2]

The drafting of a piece house almost always starts with an "introduction" composed of only the drum sounds, culminating in a break made just " pad" (in Italian called "carpet harmonic "accompanying electronic sounds), until reaching the main theme, with its variations. This is followed by pause for breath and finally longer than a new theme (perhaps repeating the chorus) and a tail to close the piece. The introduction and tail are critical parts because they allow Dj to put two pieces in sequence without the audience can feel the change.

History [edit ]

Origins [edit ]

La discoteca Paradise Garage a New York
The Paradise Garage nightclub in New York

The house music was born as a natural development of disco [2] . The pioneers of the new genre were the dj Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan and Nicky Siano, who in the early seventies from the console of Gallery of New York were the first to experiment with new musical paths as the "beat matching", which involves taking the same "time" two discs played consecutively and then switch between them to continue making music without interruption. [4]

Another important innovation of Gallery was to use a console with three courses: the first two discs used for the third allowed to enter in the songs and sound effects chosen by the dj [4] . In 1976

Levan decided to buy a garage at No. 84 King Street, and start to organize inside dancing animated by his music and that of Knucles. The garage was called paradise garage and became one of the most important clubs in New York. Inside Levan and Knuckles began to develop further their ability to DJ, playing sets of disco music characterized by a strong sexual and transgressive [4] . In 1977

Knuckles moved to Chicago , becoming dj's Warehouse. In the years following his way of mixing records with pattern of drum machine, vocals and soul got even more successful and began to be imitated. The official birth of the genre can be traced back to the convention 1984, when the record company Imports Etc Chicago began to sell records under the name of "house music" [2] . Among the first albums released dal'etichetta, Your Love in addition to the aforementioned Knuckles must be cited as "On and On" by Jesse Saunders (the first official history of disco house [5] ) and "Set It Off " by Walter Gibbons . In 1986

Larry Heard launched " Can You Feel It" (published later in 1988 ), who opened the vein of deep house which Chicago spokesman was doing. Another legendary name of the house at that time was Lil Louis, who in 1987 published French kiss, one of the greatest successes in the history of house music [6] which earned him a record deal with Epic . Other big hits of those years were "Music is the key " by Steve Hurley , "Move your body " by Marshall Jefferson and "Jack the bass " by Farley Jackmaster Funk .

Also in 1986, another disc jockey in Chicago, DJ Pierre, he invented the 'acid house' [2] , a type of house built around the rhythmic synthesizer Roland TB-303 . The first single from the new genre was in 1987 Acid Tracks Phuture of (including DJ Pierre was a member), followed in 1988 Dream Girl DJ Pierre, who will be the single most successful 'acid.

Success in Europe and the evolution of the genus [edit ]

In Europe house music began to spread since 1986 in England but remained confined to the underground scene. Meanwhile, in Ibiza , already known from the late seventies for its nightlife, the new sound of Chicago had spread to several clubs such as Amnesia, which was played in open air party and accompanied assumption of Ecstasy, drugs that became a symbol of clubs. [2]

The key year for the explosion of house in England was the 1987 when DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling brought the sound of Ibiza in the UK clubs, especially in London ( Shoom ) to Birmingham ( Heaven the Future , Spectrum and Purple Raines ) and Manchester (Hacienda ) [2] . The following year the fashion of ' acid house, and with it the consumption of ecstasy , spread like wildfire across the country [1] becoming a true cultural phenomenon among young people. One of the distinguishing features of this " Second Summer of Love" (as it was defined by the mass media ) Were the rave parties, musical events, often held illegal in abandoned industrial areas or open spaces, which soon became a problem of public order in the rigid England Thatcher era . Although the source of the illegal rave scene took place inside the house, in later years the music played within them has become the techno with its subgenres, and the house they have been excluded. In Italy

house music arrived officially in the fall of 1988 , with songs like Jack to the sound of the underground of Hit House Get real or of Paul Rutherford that are inserted at the top of dance charts [7] . The following year, then came a real Italian house scene (called "spaghetti house") from which came several international hits as Ride On Time Black Box of , Number One of Starlight Sensation and Touch Me of 49ers, 1989) [8] .

In the early nineties the house spread all over Europe, giving rise to a number of subgenres, including the 'eurodance which soon will exceed as a commercial success public house and the "classic". Tracks like "Rhythm is a Dancer of Snap! , "Please Do not Go" by Double U and "What is Love" by Haddaway marked on the charts the rise of the new genre. The house "classical" continued to be offered in some clubs gaining a large group of followers. In fact this time the dancing began to "specialize" in a certain type of dance music (commercial, techno, house), attracting them to a certain segment of the public fan of the genre [6] .

Other important sub-genres are born in this decade Garage house, spread especially in the U.S. and is characterized by a decreased use of electronic sounds and a more melodic, the Latin house, created from the combination of house music and Latin American sounds, the Revival that revisiting old pieces of Disco, but also other genres, in key House, the 'Electro house characterized by greater use of synthesizers and electronic sounds, and the French house , combining influences and funky electronic sounds, brought to success by Daft Punk , Stardust ( Music sounds better with you ) Cassius, Bob Sinclar and Modjo ( Lady ).

In early 2000, the house rises to real music smash taking on the role that had until then began to falter dall'eurodance [ citation needed] . It begins with "Crying at the Discoteque" of Alcazar, and followed with songs like "Gimme Fantasy" by Gianni Coletti , "The Weekend" by Michael Gray until the recent "World Hold On" by Bob Sinclar .

Space Ibiza (home Diabolika2)

Understanding the Legend That is

Space is as though Summer clubbing in Ibiza has become synonymous with Space; no clubber's visit to the White Isle is complete without at least one Space session.

What is still on this unassuming building in the middle of a huge concrete parking lot in Playa d'en Bossa, that makes him so special? What kind of a club can generate such loving adoration that thousands of clubbers make the pilgrimage every year to Ibiza, just for their Opening and the Last Day?

Space Team spoke with the men behind the myth, and dug back into the mists of time to reveal the story of one of the most beaten Part revered locations, the Mecca of all dance music celebrates the day - a club that has for many become one of the most fun in the world!

It's all about the music

Pepe Rosello, a passionate lover of opera and orator 6 European languages \u200b\u200bhas been the driving force behind space from the beginning. He was a nightclub owner of his entire life , again starting with the stick of Playboy in San Antonio in 1963. He says he began in the late 50s and 60s with the arrival of the first 'Hippy America (escaping the bill for the Korean and Vietnam makes war). His eyes lit up as he recalls the incredible musical freedom they brought to the island - A mish-mash of musical styles and cultures, and most important of all this great desire to celebrate their love of music. Suddenly, the first bars were opened where the youth of the island was crowded wave music and listen to this new and exciting - La Tierra, Mono desnudo and Graffiti.

Spain was under Franco's dictatorship to the duration, and strict laws governing the import of foreign records and tapes from live performances of non-English threatened to drive back this new and Renaissance music in the underground ... and yet in this climate of repression a group of businessmen on the island, in their words of Pepe 'locos por la música' ('crazy about the music') refused being hit, and in 1973 Pacha was opened, followed closely by Es Paradis, Amnesia and Ku .... From the middle eighties, Pepe was convinced that the future provision with this big 'macro' sticks: only for their ability to make it commercially viable to bring the best live acts and bands to the public was anxious. In 1989 he took on a new and completely put the conference room of weakness / disco Space in Playa d'en Bossa.

The first challenge was to change the perceptions of people of Playa d'en Bossa same as it was primarily a family resort, and encourage people away from the main route of disco - San Antonio (Es Paradis), Ibiza (Pacha) and the main road between them (Ku and Amnesia - now the law). A

fond of music and complete, Pepe was well aware of the lengths to which people should be listening to music they like, and immediately saw the potential to open when everyone else had closed. English licensing laws say that a plant is closing for a minimum of 2 hours per day, so open space right from the word go with two sessions - once a night and day with a session of 2 hours in the middle to throw people, supply the bar and clean up before I leave again!
The bill was a variety of fun in those early years - Mr and Mrs Space, the Miss Ibiza and Formentera, tapes, live Flamenco show - a far cry dall'electronica today, yet it was a formula that worked and the popularity of the club grew.
1991, a young British DJ by the name of Alex P had the idea to put a set of decks behind the bar and play for people otherwise quietly enjoying drinks on a cold - outside terrace. He was joint two years later by Brandon Block and the Space Terrace was born.
The rest ... as they say ... is history.

The club culture explodes in the nineties
The current manager of space Pangratz Fritz joined the group in 1992, when the club culture and dance music was emerging from underground. He says there was no one important moment Space when you become popular, went hand in hand with the growing popularity of dance music, while clubs and Ibiza itself.
Along the growth of beating, it was inevitable that the cult surrounding the DJ. As early as 1993, the invitational was honoring the odd DJ decks - the Smokin Jo, Ricky Montanari and DJ Dag. Fritz fondly remembers one of his first parties on Ibiza, which is leading international Calls DJ spinning in 1994. Really make a promotion for Toro Rosso in Ibiza, was headlined by Sven Väth (who we hope to see you again this summer in Space) and Marc Spoon - the undisputed king of European Trance and Techno scene to life!
Soon thereafter another 'Promoted' parties were appearing - On Yer Ronson with Sasha, Dave Seaman and Renaissance with John Digweed, Carl Cox and also react with a live performance from Erick Morillo as Reel 2 Reel (we are not sure but we think it is likely that He is on Rollerskates ... just kidding!). And do not forget
larger-than-life Sunday Space Terrace resident, Brandon Block and Alex P who were fast turning their Sunday morning sessions of the island's favorite beat up event.

a rod DJs
Love to Play Area is all about the music, and it is safe to say that every DJ's international reputation have played there at least once. But remember that a considerable space of reasons has successful has been the excellence and continuity of its very own residents.
versatile DJs like Reche, Jose de Divina and Tania Vulcano, as well as the latest and clearly sums Jon Ulysses Steve Lawler. They are the ones who really understand the Space crowd, they are the ones who know what to play and when to play and that was so instrumental in shaping that classic sound of space, both inside and out.
But more often than not, is for those world famous DJs who flock to so much space each summer. Area enjoys very warm relations with so many of these international stars, many of whom grew old with his stick, and still give as much energy and now loves to the crowd as they did 10 years ago.

Such was the myth that Space also ask DJs to play for free. During the years Space & lucky clubbers have enjoyed impromptu September by Carl Cox, Sasha, Erick Morillo Sven Väth and many others.
Clearly with the growth of club and DJ culture, it would be unrealistic to expect DJs to run on the title to the door asking to play every week and this is something he understands only too well space - but you should just watch the friendship very close to that developed between space and the DJs who have supported down the years, DJs like Carl Cox, Sasha and John Digweed, Steve Lawler Erick Morillo and many others, understand that after 15 years ... Space is still 'the club DJs love to play'.

getting ready for the New Millennium
Just when we thought clubbing area and could not get any bigger space turned traditional concepts that sticks on their heads, announcing in 1999 a party of 22 hours - every day and all night Sunday - 22 hours straight!

Up until 1999, the Sunday sessions of the finite space, (for many rather suddenly!), An evening at 8 pm on Sunday. 'Where to go now? 'Was the question on everyone lips as they streamed out of the stick. There was also no doubt that a party could work longer, the question was how do? In a collaboration between units
Darren Hughes (the man behind the Homeland), Danny Whittle, and space, these marathon sessions that were born 22 hours, from 8 am Sunday morning 'til 6 am on Monday morning; ing that this diverse range of DJs and musical styles that people had complete freedom to choose when they wanted to go to space - Sunday morning in the main room ... Sunday evening on the Terrace ... or any combination in between ...
And boy it work - was a celebration the likes of which had not been seen ever before, for 14 weeks that summer, day and night! The DJ line up was like a holiday gathering, and the atmosphere was electric both inside and out. So good in fact we love sundays @ Space (like two years later became known) won the most desired prize Stick Happy Hours in 2002 Dancestar prizes!
Follow up from this revolution was the complete overhaul of the beats of DJ booths both inside and outside in the winter of 1999 / 2000. Traditionally, the Space Terrace
DJs who played behind the bar to the left of the terrace, invisible to most of the dance-floor. A hot Sunday afternoon in August of 1999, celebrating the Radio 1 weekend a separate DJ stage was erected at the far end of the Terrace. Carl Cox, Mousse T and Boris Dlugosh that played to a crowd ecstatic. Carl won the set of BBC Radio 1's Set of the Year award - and became clear space that the DJs and the crowd revelled in the interaction increased. So the current DJ booth was built and the bar was gone strictly to the personal bar. Was in a similar situation. Now the centrist DJ takes the stage at the back of the main room.

The most common stick World - It's official!
In light of all these improvements and the effort that makes space for groped each year and create more good conditions as possible to listen to and enjoy dance music, was a proud moment for everyone at the club win 'as the Good Rod in the World 2001 Dancestar awards.

Space and the Future
This attention to detail, continuous effort to improve what already is such a mix attractive and powerful - the Terrazzo light summer, the dark and the main room and powerful - that breeds the kind of loyalty can only dream of most clubs.

Fritz is very aware of this loyalty:
'I think that is why we put in as much effort in giving our guests the best possible experience as well put them in celebrating this.'
We like to thank all the DJs that no space would also especially Space and our hard-working staff in the office, in the stick behind bars and on the door - yes it is a fun place to work, but you would not believe the amount of work hard and planning which goes into running a successful club, the people of Ibiza, which showed immense loyalty and affection throughout the years, Pepe Rosello and Fritz Pangratz - the men behind it all, and of course a huge thanks to you, our clubbers!
